Hi Randy,
I found the exact replacement links for both dead gmane.org references. Here is how I found them:
Approach:

  1.
Used

telnet news.gmane.io 119

 (NNTP) to retrieve the full content and Message-IDs of both original messages:
     *
gmane 6281 → Message-ID: [email protected]
     *
gmane 6275 → Message-ID: [email protected]
  2.
Used these Message-IDs to search mail-archive.com ( https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/) and found the exact matching messages.
  3.
Verified by confirming both Message-ID and email body content match exactly.

Seems right or at least close, but I'd feel better if we could find the original mirrored content
and if the message number didn't change or we understood why it did change.
