Hello Yocto/meta-qt maintainers,
I am working with Yocto Scarthgap (5.0) on a Raspberry Pi CM5 target and trying to build an image with Qt support. My current setup uses:

  *   Yocto release: Scarthgap (5.0)
  *   Machine: raspberrypi-cm5-thermo
  *   Qt layer: meta-qt5 / meta-qt6 (Qt 5.12, Qt 5.15, Qt 6.11) - I supposed to use them for different products.
  *   Bitbake version: 2.8.0
  *   Toolchain: gcc 13.3

When running bitbake <my-image>, the build fails with many of unbuildable tasks caused by circular dependency loops between qtbase, qttools, qtdeclarative, and related recipes, attached the error log for reference, for the all the qt versions I am getting circular dependency issues

       I have following queries:

  1. Is Qt 5.12 (via meta-qt5-5.12) still expected to work on Scarthgap (5.0)?
  2. Is this circular dependency issue due to Qt/Yocto version incompatibility, or is there a patch/workaround?
  3. Is Qt 5.12 still expected to work on Scarthgap, or is it unsupported now?
  4. Is there a known way to use Qt 5.15 on Scarthgap, or does it require upgrading to a newer Yocto release?
  5. For Qt 6.11, since meta-qt6 only documents support up to 6.10 on Scarthgap, is there any recommended patch/backport path, or is migration to Whinlatter/Walnascar the only option?
  6. Has anyone successfully built these combinations (Scarthgap + Qt 5.15 or Scarthgap + Qt 6.11), and if so, what layer revisions/patches were required?

please let me if anything required from my side,

Thanks
Shivaji Y
