i do see your point. how we organize and catalog stuff is a
question. i assume all perl books (including those that don't have perl
in their title but deal with perl a lot) are included. others should
need to be nominated and voted/rated in. why have cobol for dummies
here? in fact other than perl for dummies (which MUST be on the site so
it can have the worst rating), no other dummies book should be there
even though they cover many computer topics. in any case, we do need
some form of filter to include non-perl books.

that is a separate issue to me. it is a good idea but i don't login to
many sites in general so i don't care as much. how many perl.org sites
need or want logins? this also brings up the proposal at yapc of
redesigning all the perl.org sites under a common style, etc. that never
got off the ground.

i already had a price search engine (mostly) working for a handful of
vendor sites who had a wide range of computer books. i found many book
sites but some had a very small perl book selection.

if we just do a price comparison then we don't need to do anything. we
could also make those links become partnered ones and get kickbacks. who
gets that money (i want my share!!), perl mongers?

i like that. show me books ranked by XXX. assuming XXX has ranked enough
of the selected books.
