I'm sorry to take this further off topic, but a quick response.

We might as well have a discussion on bombs, guns, or screw-drivers.
They are all tools. It's how things are used which can be evil, not
the tools themselves.
Do you fear that your fellow Perl programmers will be so tempted to
use such a tool in an evil capacity? If yes, then perhaps we should
be talking about what we can take away from Perl instead of what we
can add? Then, it would be less prone to being used in an evil way,
right?
