If you use CPAN.pm it maintains your own mini-cpan mirror under
~/.cpan/sources.

So if you regularly do

perl -MCPAN -e 'CPAN::Shell->install("My::Favorite","Modules")'

then you have what you want.

If you do not want to install it, use "make" instead.
