Helping authors remember to delete things that are now irrelevant from the main CPAN system will make it easier to run mirrors and keep them fresh. I appreciate that the number of files on CPAN has implications for the infrastructure, but I feel a need to have some more factual info before conceding to such measures. Also, having _software_ determine what is 'irrelevant' is a dangerous path indeed. One of the strengths of CPAN is the low barrier of entry. If we lower the barrier of exit, I'm not at all convinced we end up in a significantly better place. /Lars
