I've always thought of it as a bash-ism, but mainly because it fails to 
work on most copies of 'sh' I use. =-) Yes, this was one of the things 
I had to change to get things to work for me. (I'll go through my 
copies of the scripts tonight and see if there's anything else I 
modified, and forward it back. I think y'all have already caught most 
of it, though.)
