mkovz.pl can't run after config failure

Don't know if this is a bug or feature, but mkovz.pl can't run after a
Configure failure.  This becomes a problem on OS's like NetBSD w/o GNU
pth where Configure aborts if you try to use threads.  This is
expected but the smoke can't make a report at the end.

Not sure how to solve this.

Some like elmers glue
but it needs reapplying.
I use super glue.
