yester*day* I manually started HP-UX 10.20 and AIX-4.3.3/gcc
HP ran into the automatic smoke, which I restarted this morning, AIX for the
first time shows that threads and gcc don't work well together on AIX-4.3.
This didn't show earlier, because smoke was so slow that it never reached
threads with gcc anyhow.

which lead to trace first?
