They were designed for Win-NT+ (CMD.EXE). I'll see if I can simplify them to 
fit good old .BAT standards, but I do not have access to toy-windows.

You can try to set "defaultenv" when running F<configsmoke.pl> (or directly in 
F<smokecurrent_config>), there are known issues with C<PERLIO=stdio :crlf>

These changes will only be in the new 1.19 version, that is rather close to 
first release, so I won't be maitaining the 1.18-branch.

I am still working on this one as I do not want to loose the link() 
functionality. This needs some thought and more work.
