The standard way to subscribe works, and always has: send an empty
message to [email protected]

p.s. The list kind of mumbled into existence as I wanted to be able to
think without too many voices. With the benefit of hindsight that was
probably a mistake. On the other hand we may have got tied up in knots
trying to define "the" DBI v2 API. We can dodge that one now.
