You're right.  I must have just been "lucky" as the code goes romping
through the stack.  Unfortunately, I can't fix it, but there is a
perlbug report winging its way around the world with a TODO test
attached.

I golfed the bug down to perl -e 'map { 1 for () } 1 .. 2' :-)
