As was well-spotted by our pre-eminent Canuck, the anniversary
of the historic fwp Santa game has indeed come and gone.

Unlike Larry Wall, however, I did not experience the thrill of
pressing the button on my answering machine and hearing Randal
Schwartz singing Happy Birthday down the phone line at me -- for
the very good reason that, unlike another (and once juvenile)
Canuck, I have never displayed my phone number as part of a
gratuitously ostentatious sig. But I did receive a nice email
from the No. 1 Canadian golfer, reminding me of the anniversary,
which I really did appreciate.

You will have to take my word for it that I still love the game
of golf; it is only a chronic lack of time that is keeping me
from it. I would be honoured to help the esteemed `/anick
referee a golf game, but time is against me right now, owing
to illness, family commitments, and moving house. All I can say
right now is that I would love to be able to help `/ run a golf
game, but I cannot guarantee it right now.

I hope to find enough time in January to be head referee (but again
cannot guarantee it yet). I have a couple of ideas for golf courses.
Just wondering: has golf moved on from the very simple holes used in
the Santa tournament? I fear that if I posted such a simple course
today, I would be attacked by an angry mob of nine-iron wielding
golfers, demanding that I torture them more.

As for money lists, I think we will soon need two separate lists:
a career list, and a new list starting afresh for the year 2003.
In addition to heading the 2002 money list, Ton has contributed a
truly elegant piece of code in his generic golf tester and is
unmatched as a post-mortem analyst (except perhaps by Mtv).
