For people interested in referencing Google URLs, to make a URL 
for a thread the only necessary parameter is the threadm:

http://groups.google.com/groups?threadm=slrn82jqj5.lmh.abigail%4
0alexandra.delanet.com

Still too long to fit on a line (but you could resort to 
makeashorterlink.com or tinyurl.com or shorl.com or Ask Bjørn 
Hansen's new metamark.net).  For a URL for just the individual 
article, s/threadm/selm/.
