Using ithreads with OS threads

Hi,

I am currently working on a Perl backend tailored to a system
which already has (native) threading support and allows new
backends via a plugin interface. However I am not sure what the
best way to integrare a multithreaded Perl is. As I looked
around there are some systems which use a combination of
perl_clone and ithreads, others using semaphores on a single
interpreter. The module mod_perl seems to do all (and more)
of what I want but I have some difficulty understanding
the implementation.

Does anyone have a good advice of where to look at for a good
example on native interpreter multithreading despite
the common perlapi, perlthrtut, perlembed etc.?

Best regards
