Job Purpose

Software developer for the main legacy
product.

Main Responsibilities

Maintenance and feature development of the
main legacy product. 
Setting a good standard of development procedures for
other developers to follow. 

Develop features and improvements for the
main legacy product. 
Fix bugs for the main legacy product.

Desired skills:
Very strong understanding of Modern Perl

Good understanding of DBIx::Class

Good understanding of at least one Perl web framework (Catalyst, Dancer,
Mojolicious)

Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and surrounding best
practices

Strong knowledge of testing RESTful APIs

Good understanding of
git

Medical / biological knowledge or interest

Experience of supporting
and coaching junior staff

Expert knowledge of normalised relational
databases, ideally PostgreSQL

Ability to provide architectural solutions

Knowledge and experience using Docker
 
Experience of writing maintainable
web applications within an MVC framework

Experience of developing flexible
API endpoints using a dynamic scripting language

Commercial experience of
working on a Modern Perl codebase (Catalyst, DBIx::Class, Moose, Plack)
