This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build a Perl training programme at WCN for entry level candidates seeking to learn to code in Perl. You will be excellent at Perl and want to support, mentor, and structure a training programme at WCN to enable us to build a pool of Perl developers. You will be supported by the leaders of the Technology team and will be expected to guide them in building this new training programme in regards to what resources and training will be required. This is an amazing opportunity for a talented Perl developer with solid experience of developing modern Perl and JavaScript web applications, wanting to use the latest technologies in an environment where you can have maximum impact and add real value in securing the next generation of coders at WCN. The technical team is 27 in total, based in our London Wimbledon Park office. It’s an experienced team of outstanding experts including infrastructure, Perl, JavaScript, SQL, security and machine learning engineers. The team builds award-wining e-recruitment software technologies on Linux in an environment where you can have maximum impact within a supportive team. It’s a fairly flat structure allowing the members to genuinely build ground-breaking code and Machine Learning (ML). Responsibilities: Lead, build and structure a training programme for entry level Perl Developers Develop user stories into proposed developments Deliver working software both as an individual full stack developer and working as part of a development team Participate in other team activities including sprint plans, code review, design sessions Work will be split 50/50 between Perl development and training of Entry Level Talent. Desired skills: Must have solid experience of developing Perl, SQL and Javascript web applications on Linux as a member of a development team. Experience of any of the following technologies would be an advantage: MySQL, Linux (Debian), Catalyst framework, DBIx, Moose, Angular, J-Query, test-driven development, GIT. Desire to train entry level Perl Developers with evidence of coaching, mentoring or management. Able to work in the UK without any restrictions. Security Clearance may be required for this role.
