Job title: Senior Perl Security Programmer

Company name: Greystar Solutions

Location: Atlanta, GA, United States

Pay rate: USD 100-180k salary

Terms of employment: Salaried employee

Hours: Full time

Onsite: no

Description:
Greystar is looking for at least one, possibly two or more, highly skilled
perl developer(s) to help maintain and improve our system.

We've been in
business since 2001; our codebase is large, complex, and under heavy use.
Recently we've seen a significant escalation in the frequency, intensity,
and sophistication of attacks against both our systems and individual user
accounts. We're looking for people who can help systematically improve our
security and system architecture, both short and long term. In the short
term, we primarily want to focus on tightening security and similar; long
term, we want to be able to reimplement or refactor existing code where
needed along with deploying new code and features in a sane way.

Our
system is about 95% perl, with a smattering of PHP in places, very large,
and very complex. Ability to navigate and analyze existing code effectively
is an absolute must. A reasonable grasp of modern perl, and the ability to
write it quickly and effectively, is mandatory. The ability to construct
solutions in the context of the larger system is extremely important.
Other
skills which are important:
-Familiarity with Linux systems
-MySQL/MariaDB
-Nginx, apache, and perl web servers (mod_perl, Starman, etc.)
-Advanced
perl OO
-In-depth familiarity with common perl modules (core and CPAN)
-Experience with parallel computing
-Performance profiling & analysis
-Security, penetration testing, etc.
-Familiarity with sensitive
information handling, encryption, etc.

Ultimately, we want people who can
contribute to the system, improve security, and help us make really neat
stuff.
In the US, the position will be salaried, 100% telecommute, with
health benefits included.

Desired skills: Perl, Ubuntu, Security, SQL
