Perl Developer needed
for a Ecommce based business in London, You will need to be an experienced
Perl Developer to undertake a lead projects and take full ownership of
them. As the lead Perl Developer you will be managing and mentoring junior
Perl developers. 

The group is responsible for engineering their Web and
JEE application hosting platforms. These services are designed to run a
large numbers of applications within the group in a highly available, cost
effective and secure shared infrastructure environment. 
They utilize a
product driven approach where we provide these services to our clients, the
application development teams, in a manner similar to a managed hosting
service provider. The team work closely with Product Management and the
Production Support organization that operate the platforms we deliver. 

Position Description 

Qualified candidates must have technology expertise
in Web hosting technologies and Perl programming coupled with experience of
executing product engineering practices. Candidates must be collaborative,
client focused and able to deliver world class engineering services to our
clients. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Engineering/developing features for
our Web hosting and Java application hosting platform 
• Quality assurance
testing, including functional, performance/scalability, and regression
testing 
• Writing technical documentation, including design documentation
and training materials 
• Platform delivery including packaging,
installation, and configuration 
• Platform support including
troubleshooting, contributing to root cause analysis, and problem
resolution 
• Identifying and assessing risks, determining impact to
platform and mitigation plans

Experience and Education 
• Bachelor’s Degree from
an accredited college or university with a concentration in an IT‐related
discipline (or equivalent diploma/work experience) 
• 2+ years of relevant
work experience with OO Perl & Web hosting technologies 
Required skills:
Strong programming experience in Object Orientated Perl & Shell Scripting 
• Experience with Apache Web Server (Inc. Apache modules) 
• Experience
with at least one of: WebLogic Server, JBoss, Tomcat 
• Strong Linux/Unix
and Systems Administration skills 
• Ability to reverse-engineer legacy
code 
• Revision control systems (Subversion, branching and merging) 
•
Test Driven Development coupled with Agile SDLC 
Desired skills: Perl
modules: Template::Toolkit, CGI::Prototype, Test::More, LWP, Embperl,
Catalyst 
• Web hosting, caching and proxy software and related
technologies: Apache, volume hosting setups with Apache vhosts, HTTP, SSL,
CGI, FastCGI 
• Experience with Web Technologies and Tools: HTTP, XML, REST

• Experience of configuring Java environments 
• Exposure to Java
programming 
• Application and Operating System security 
• C, PHP, Ruby +
Ruby on Rails, MySQL 
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS 
• Load
balancers (F5 BigIP load balancers), software load balancing technologies
