Description:
The Web Application Developer oversees the successful operation of OEA's
Web applications.  Among these include applications that support: a) course
evaluations at the UW and universities across the United States and b) test
registration and administration at the OEA Testing Center. The person in
this role is responsible for the development, security, testing,
deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of these applications, the
infrastructure they depend on, and the integrations they have with third
parties. The Web Application Developer uses feedback from stakeholders,
clients, and users to guide project and feature development and
prioritization. 

The person in this role must be able to effectively
communicate and teach technical subjects to non-technical faculty and
staff, and provide second tier customer support for our clients and users.

Desired skills:
REQUIREMENTS: 
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and
five+ years relevant experience. 
* Excellent interpersonal skills,
including teamwork and customer service orientation. 
* Experience with
Perl and JavaScript. 
* Extensive experience with Linux or other Unix-like
environments. 
* Demonstrated experience developing Web applications using
a LAMP stack. 
* Demonstrated capability in relational database design;
development of complex database-driven web applications. 
* Demonstrated
capability in management and prioritization of features, tasks, and bugs;
application documentation. 
* Willingness to learn new skills. 

Equivalent
education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except
when there are legal requirements, such as a
license/certification/registration. 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE 
* Experience
integrating Web applications with third-party authentication systems,
learning management systems, and/or web services. 
* Experience with online
data security, accessible design, and UW computing environment. 
* Interest
in or experience with evaluation and assessment.
