Description:
We are presently conducting a search for a contract Software Engineer
focused on Front End Web Application development to join one of our
client’s in Houston, Texas.

What You’ll Be Doing:

 

Implementation of
software components and modules based on specifications and designs
provided by team leads and software designers
Unit, integration, system
testing of implemented software components
Code review of other engineer’s
work to maintain quality of code and best practices
Participate in team
agile process planning and review sessions
Collaborate with members of the
website team (including designers and back-end developers) to consistently
improve functionality and user-friendliness of the web applications
Optimize websites and applications to ensure fast loading speeds
Participate in team retrospectives of processes and procedures and suggest
improvements where identified
Support other team members when they need
assistance in completing high priority work tasks
Continuously growing and
developing software engineering skills to be able to take on more complex
problems going forward
 

What You Bring to the Table: 

Ability to develop
software with High Level programming languages such as Perl, PHP, Python,
or Java
Excellent understanding of core software engineering principles.
Exposure to and basic understanding of Unix environments/systems
5 years or
more of experience with developing with Javascript, HTML, CSS
5 years or
more of experience with AJAX-based JSON/XML web services.
5 years or more
of experience with developing using web application frameworks and
libraries such as Angular, Bootstrap, Node, React, Jquery, and Dancer
Experience using CSS preprocessors such as LESS, SASS and/or Compass.
Comfortable developing with Git, coding standards, and branding guidelines.
Confidently and quickly able to navigate around and work within an
unfamiliar codebase.
Able to troubleshoot and debug complex websites and
applications (e.g. network requests, front-end performance, layout issues,
browser bugs).
Must be comfortable working with product designers. Should
have experience converting design comps created in Invision, Photoshop or
Sketch into functional websites.
Excellent understanding of Web application
design
Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
Understanding of data structures
Understanding of need to follow coding standards
Basic understanding of
code optimization principles
Ability to stay on task and focused on
delivering solutions as committed to
