Are you challenged to make a difference in education?
Edison Schools, the nation’s leading private manager of public schools, has
an exciting opportunity for a Senior Perl Developer. This developer will be
working on Edison’s Achievement Management System, an educational tool that
provides grade level benchmark testing in specific subject areas to over
450 schools throughout the US and the UK. This person will be develop and
support in-house applications that are 100% mod_perl (using a combination
of mason and Template::Toolkit) sitting on top of Linux servers with a
PostgreSQL database back-end. 

Required skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related field
5+ years solid development experience with object-oriented Perl, mod_perl,
XML and HTML in a dynamic, fast-paced application development environment
5+ years of SQL experience (Oracle or PostgreSQL environment is ideal)
5+ years with Operations Support Software
Development and design experience with SQL and Oracle
Understanding of various software development lifecycle methodologies,
configuration management (CVS) and object-oriented software development
methodologies
Detailed knowledge of web application architecture and infrastructure
Experience with Linux (primarily Red Hat) 
Ability to work well independently and within a team, especially
cross-functional teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired skills:
Mason (v1.0.6)
Template::Toolkit
ETL experience
Some secondary language (C/C++, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.)
Some experience with school operations, especially in the areas of
enrollment, scheduling and attendance
