JOB DESCRIPTION - PROGRAMMER/ANALYST (TELECOMMUTING)

Crystal Solutions is looking for a senior programmer analyst to help them
support their growing web-development, co-hosting and systems management
customers in a challenging and fun environment.  Candidates will be
goal-oriented, self-starting individuals, with a good sense of humor, who
can work from home as part of a team in a virtual environment. 

Skills which are required include: Senior Perl and PHP programming
capabilities integrating web based services with various data-sources
including MySQL, LDAP and others; a strong working knowledge of HTML and
XML development; and comfort working in a UNIX ( Linux and FreeBSD
environment ) development environment with source control tools such as SVN
and CVS.  

Outstanding candidates will have knowledge and experience working with VBA
(Access), .NET and flash development, as well as system administration and
security management skills for the UNIX and/or Windows operating systems. 

Individuals selected for the position will be required to provide their own
secure computer, basic software and high speed internet access.  A great
majority of this work can be done remotely from any location.

Candidates will be required to submit examples of their work.  We look

Required skills:
Required:
Perl – Candidates should posses excellent Perl skills needed (should also
know object oriented Perl)
PHP - excellent PHP skills needed
Html – must have a working knowledge
XML – must have a working knowledge  
Linux – be able to work in a Linux environment
FreeBSD – be able to work in a BSD environment
Self-motivator – be able to work alone, unsupervised 
A love for programming
Good communication skills
Good documentation skills


Desired skills:

Ability to easily pick up new languages
SVN or CVS experience 
Experience developing high-end web applications as a part of a team.
Flexibility to work in different languages, different environments.


Would be helpful:
VBA (Access) – many small business clients that we have only require an
access database, so extra help here would be greatly appreciated.
.NET – A growing field. A person who was good in .net could head and grow
our Microsoft web development which is currently extremely small.
Flash – strong flash programming capabilities would be helpful but only on
rare occasions since we shun the use of flash except for very specific
types of clients.
Security/Pen Testing
System Administration for Windows or UNIX.
