Posted: August 15, 2006 Job title: Software Engineer (Perl), New Media & Technology Company name: BBC Internal ID: 83057 Location: United Kingdom, London Terms of employment: Salaried employee Length of employment: 12 months Description: Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team within New Media Production and Development, you'll be involved in exciting new projects. As well as designing, building and testing software, you'll contribute to the scoping phase of new assignments. You'll also represent the team as a technical expert both within the department and across the BBC. Required skills: Experienced in software development processes and lifecycle, in particular Agile methodologies, you'll be used to using Apache modules, Perl CGI, HTML, Unix and SQL-based database systems. Some experience in multimedia and creative environments would be an advantage and, ideally, you'll have knowledge of mod_perl, JavaScript, XML/XSLT as well as experience in UML, Scrum and XP.
