Description:
TEKsystems has an immediate opening for a Perl Developer for a Fortune 500
client in Memphis, TN. This is a 3 month contract position with the
possibility of extension.

This position will be responsible for participating in projects for an
application release and support group. One of the projects includes
improving/developing an application release architecture, which will
involve documenting and automating build and release processes as well as
documenting procedures for manual processes. This will require knowledge of
software repository technologies, development languages, as well as
packaging technologies. Another project will involve reviewing/improving
existing support processes and procedures. This will require knowledge of
application support activities such as: log file parsing, operating system
tools, network analyzers, and protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, LDAP, SNMP,
IRC, SOAP, XMLRPC, etc. This position is required to coordinate with the
company?s Change Management Group, Development Groups, Quality Assurance
Department, as well as Systems Engineering and Architecture group. This
position is responsible for ensuring consistent and reliable development of
software builds with minimal impact to existing production applications.
This position will create, communicate, and utilized a software building
architecture that eases that tasks associated with packaging and deploying
releases of software to multiple destination architectures. 

As part of the screening process, all qualified candidates will be required
to demonstrate their coding expertise in Perl, C and Java by taking a
coding test.


Required skills:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in Object-oriented Perl development
- 4-3 years experience in overall software development
- Must have experience working in an enterprise environment doing actual
development not just scripting
- Current experience and expertise using CVS, make, ant and other tools to
automate software builds
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, CSS and XHTML
- Strong knowledge of Apache servers, and Tomcat
- Able to work in a rapid development environment
- Able to demonstrate coding expertise in Perl, C and Java by taking a
coding test
- Able to work with 4GL RDMSs
- Possess excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Possess hands-on programming experience with Perl, Python, Shell, etc for
automation script development 
-3+ years experience with HTTP, SNMP, SOAP, XMLRPC protocols
- Self-motivated and capable of handling rapid change
- Experience with Apache, MySQL and Informix for Internet development
