Location: United Kingdom, Oxfordshire, Oxford Pay rate: Negotiable around market rates depending on skills+experience Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: We're looking for a full-time Perl developer to join our small development team on-site in Oxford, UK to assist in developing our web based marketing applications. This is a great opportunity to work on the web based systems that enable large household names such as Tesco and the BBC to manage their marketing campaigns to millions of customers. The ideal candidate would be a confident and capable Perl programmer with some commercial experience, be comfortable with Object-oriented Perl, CGI and/or mod_perl (including templating systems), Perl based systems/shell scripting as well as proficient with SQL and database interaction. Responsibilities will include: * Designing developing and deploying exciting and innovative new features * Mantaining, optimising, performance tuning and, where necessary, overhauling existing code * Creating intuitive user interfaces for our web based applications Required skills: Perl (OO and CGI/mod_perl) DBI Familiar with SQL and database use At least basic HTML / CSS User interface development experience Proficient with FreeBSD / Linux / Unix Some commercial web development experience Desired skills: Template Toolkit / Templating systems PostgreSQL XML / SOAP / Webservices (use and deployment) Shell scripting FreeBSD / Linux systems administration Experience managing mailservers Semantic HTML and CSS layouts Javascript Graphic design abilities PHP/Ruby/Python/etc C/C++ XS Mysql (in approximate order of priority) Contact information at: http://jobs.perl.org/job/4590#contact
