We specialize in developing the software solutions for Caimans specific needs, and are currently seeking talented problem solvers that welcome challenges and work well individually as well as in a team. By sharing ideas and pooling resources, we find working solutions for the real-time problems of e-commerce. The Perl Programmer will use his/her progressive experience and extensive expertise to analyze, develop, and maintain the entire back-end system for Caiman. Duties and Tasks: This position requires solid understanding and progressive experience in Perl programming. The candidate will focus on several e-commerce systems, and the daily tasks include: - Design, develop, modify, test, and implement highly-scalable e-commerce applications - Keep eye on the latest technology and present necessary recommendations regarding the technology to be used in the development environment - Mentor on all aspects of Perl-based design (architecture, application design, tooling, best practices, standards, etc.) - Create technical standards and best practices - Create processes and techniques that will improve performance and maintainability of applications - Provides technical support to project team members Required skills: Experience & Knowledge: Experience - 3-5 years of programming experience with Perl. - Experience as a Perl programmer (web and application) in the e-commerce domain, preferably on large transactional systems is preferred. - Experience in full life-cycle software development including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation. Knowledge - Knowledge in the following is preferred: o Framework: Mod_Perl, maypole, or catalyst. o Database: MSSQL and MySQL. Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a scientific field. Desired skills: Skills: - Ability to translate business strategy into technical terms and technical strategy into business terms. - Ability to evaluate complex architecture problems resulting in appropriate decisions which factor in technical, business, and organizational constraints. - Ability to grasp issues quickly and make critical judgment. - Excellent analytical skills. - Good communication skill (oral and written) in English.
