Location: Tx, Austin Pay rate: DOE Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Independent contractor (hourly) Length of employment: 4-6mnths Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: X Performs enhancement design modifications, analysis and programming activities on applications software which may require some research: X Performs design, maintenance of single product modules/sub-systems. X Participates in product design meetings. X Prepares technical documentation of enhancements. X Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products: X Researches problems discovered by QA or Production support and develops solutions to the problems. X Performs coding, unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits with high quality deliverables. X Participates actively in code reviews. X All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required skills: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES X Thorough technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. X Extensive experience in Perl, C and database development and strong SQL skills (e.g. Informix, Oracle, SQL Server). X Extensive experience in UNIX environments such as AIX, Linux, etc. X Excellent analytical and design skills at multiple product level. X Thorough understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. X Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. X Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. X Some experience in OOA / OOD / OOP preferred. Desired skills: TRAINING and EXPERIENCE X Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science or other relevant combination of training and education.
