Senior Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer will be a technical leader for Yahoo! Search Marketing's
work with key clients.	This position requires a Perl developer with
project management skills and an eye for business. This individual must
have a high degree of comfort delivering technical and business solutions
to large Advertisers.  The Sales Engineer must have knowledge of the
strategic / technology / business / competitive dimensions of Yahoo Search
Marketing's business, web search businesses and technology.  At least 25%
of the time spent in this position will be spent programming.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

* Drive issues on behalf of the client from start to finish.
Identify, track, and manage day to day large client issues, risks, and
action items. 
* Develop project plan, test plan and related project management documents
as needed for new API feature development or volume testing, while
communicating risks in a timely manner.
* Develop and operate programs to manage marketing accounts and new
campaigns.
* Proactively identify ways in which the client can better utilize the Y!
Search Marketing infrastructure (API, etc.) and product features.
* Work with clients to articulate business requirements, develop and
propose technology strategy, then drive integration of Yahoo Search
Marketing technologies with the client systems.
* Partner with YSM Product and Engineering teams to drive enhancements and
bug fixes for our biggest customers.
* Own solving escalated customer issues from identification to resolution.
Assist Technical Account Management team with pre-sales and post-sales
engineering support.


Required skills:
Basic requirements include the following:    

* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral,
including experience working directly with customers.
* Proven ability to work in a matrix-style organizational structure.
* Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering
outstanding results.
* Exceptional analytical and creative problem solving skills.
* Knowledge of software design and development methodologies is required.
* Experience with web technologies such as XML and SQL is required.
* Experience building applications that leverage Web Service API's in Java,
Perl or .NET environments preferred.
* Knowledge of web search technologies and understanding of search
optimization techniques preferred.
* Working knowledge of Yahoo Search Marketing products, services and
systems a plus.
* The ability to perform in a fast-paced internet environment is mandatory.

Desired skills:
Preferred requirements include the following:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. MBA degree a plus.
* 2+ years of demonstrated experience in Sales Engineering, Professional
Services, or equivalent experience.  IT / Strategy consulting experience
preferred.
* 4+ years pf proven experience programming in a Unix environment, using
PERL or similar languages.
