Description:
As a Senior Software Engineer (Anti-spam Engine), you will assist in the
development of our core anti-spam engine. You will bring to the role a
motivated, creative approach to problem-solving and software design. You
will also have an understanding of internet security threats, such as spam,
viruses, phishing and malware.

-Develop secure, reliable, high performance systems software for email
filtering and threat detection 
-Work with SophosLabs to research latest threat trends and industry
solutions 
-Propose and prototype innovative approaches to solving email-based threats

-Ensure high quality through unit testing and following Sophos coding
standards 
-Work with SophosLabs, product managers and developers to define stories
(i.e. use cases) 


Required skills:
-5 years' experience of C/C++ network/systems software programming 
-2+ years' experience of Perl software programming 
-3+ years' experience with Linux, Solaris or FreeBSD software development 
-3+ years' experience with MS Windows software development 
-Experience with internet protocols, networking and WC3 standards
(desirable: SMTP, MIME & HTML/CSS) 
-Experience with a software configuration management system 
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering 


Desired skills:
-Sendmail, Postfix or Qmail internals and/or development experience 
-Experience with internet security software (spam, virus, phishing,
malware) 
-Test automation experience 
-Experience working in an agile environment 
-Experience in giving presentations and writing papers for a technical
audience
