level? The Yahoo! Search Submit team is seeking a skilled senior software
engineer with solid database and larger data-driven application experience
to join the development team for the Search Submit Marketing Center (SMC).
The Search Submit program provides services for customers to submit deep
and diverse content to be indexed and to gain insight into user search
behavior in order to drive more sales. The SMC team is at the heart of this
program, providing reporting and account management functionality to both
customers and Yahoos.


Essential Responsibilities
As a senior software engineer working on SMC, you will help redesign and
build infrastructure to support new international features including
international currency and language support. You will help lead the team in
making design decisions, choosing which technologies to use and producing a
high quality product. You will mentor junior developers, oversee code
reviews and help with design reviews.

Required skills:
Basic Qualifications
* 3+ years of Perl development
* Strong software design, object-oriented programming and architecture
experience
* Strong relational database design experience - Oracle a plus
* Experience with large data-driven applications and advanced SQL queries
* Experience with web-based technologies & MVC frameworks (Javascript,
DHTML, CSS2, AJAX, Mason, Struts, JSF, etc.)
* Linux/Unix experience
* Ability and desire to mentor junior developers, perform code reviews and
give constructive feedback
* Ability and desire to work collaboratively with both technical and
non-technical people
* Talent for quickly coming up to speed in new environments with large
existing code-bases and complex architectures
* A strong sense of responsibility and rigorous attention to detail


Desired skills:

* B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field
* 6+ years software development experience
* 1+ years Java development
* Internationalization experience
