Arcsight’s Network Synergy Group is seeking Application Engineers and
Software Analysts that are experienced, adaptable, and have the ability to
work with a team or independently.  The Application Engineers of Arcsight’s
Network Synergy Group are responsible for developing and maintaining
mission critical network management applications. 

Required skills:
•	Ability to determine unique and creative solutions to problems
within a rapid development environment
•	Develop and maintain software and packages to support applications.

•	Develop Test Units and Tool Frameworks for Automating Tasks
•	Optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures to increase
throughput, availability, scalability, redundancy, and quick recoverability

•	Participate in the design of new network management applications 
•	Write internal documentation describing software developed
•	Independently develop automated tools and methodologies 
•	Provide input and analysis for documentation, tests, evaluations,
risk assessments, technical controls, access controls, security awareness,
and security policies, standards, processes, and procedures.
•	Perform application architecture, code & QA assessments of n-tier
architecture applications to determine extensibility, scalability,
maintainability and security capabilities to support business requirements.

•	Perform Application Integration Assistance and Consolidation
strategies
•	Assess and assist in defining Web Services and Service Oriented
Architecture readiness, strategy and methodology to optimize the software
development, maintenance, reuse and support.
•	Provide advice on optimizing current application architectures
including technology architectural styles.
•	Work closely with development and architecture teams to understand
infrastructure capacity and environment requirements for new developments.
•	Work with Management in developing technology/product strategies
and plans.
•	Depending on project size, supervise other personnel, assign work,
establish and maintain schedules, control project expenses and integrate
individual work into a coherent and quality deliverable
•	Constructively challenge and improve existing department-wide
processes 



Requirement Skills/Experience
•	Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
•	5+ years solid development experience with object-oriented Perl,
mod_perl, and HTML in a dynamic, fast-paced application development
environment
•	5+ years of SQL experience (Oracle or PostgreSQL environment is
ideal)
•	Database development and design experience (Oracle or PostgreSQL
environment is ideal)
•	Detailed knowledge of web application architecture and
infrastructure
•	Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments. 
•	Ability to work well independently and within a team, especially
cross-functional teams
•	Strong knowledge of Internet/web technologies and languages, such
as web browsers, HTTP, HTML and JavaScript. . 
•	Exceptional problem-solving expertise and attention to detail. 
•	Superb self-management skills. 
•	Strong oral and written communication skills. 
•	Aptitude for documentation and process improvement. 
•	Work knowledge of complete Systems Development Life Cycles with
hands on experience using a variety of development methodologies including
agile (RUP, XP) and traditional water fall and spiral approaches.
