Description:
Used by millions every week, the BBC Weather Centre's main website is
consistently among the top five sites on bbc.co.uk To help maintain and
build on its wide range of popular content, you’ll develop and monitor the
systems that produce it. This will involve writing and testing software,
maintaining key databases, and building new backend production systems and
web applications. You’ll also identify code defects and systems issues,
offering alternative solutions where necessary.  

Required skills:
For this you’ll need a good understanding of the software development
lifecycle and a background in developing large-scale internet-based
applications and production systems. Experience in fault finding and an
in-depth knowledge of Perl, Apache modules, XML, Javascript, SQL databases
and Unix tools such as CVS rsync and nagios will also be key.
