Location: United States, CA, Santa Clara Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: Yahoo!'s Engineering Infrastructure group is looking for an experienced developer interested in building the next generation project management and issue tracking system. This high profile application is used by internal Yahoo engineering, product and executive management teams on a daily basis. Internally, the system is perl cgi web app, running in an apache web server on top of a MySQL database. Help us enhance the existing system by adding features, improving performance and fixing bugs. Responsibilities include: * Implementation of new functionality * Technical design and architecture of enhancements with an emphasis on scalability * Quickly understand new code and contribute in a way consistent with prior coding conventions * Documentation of technical designs and projects * Training and technical assistance to other engineers on an as-needed basis * Process and fix defects in the software * Provide automation scripts wherever possible to reduce manual overhead for maintenance of the system Required skills: Basic Qualifications: * BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent and 5+ years industry experience * Excellent knowledge of Perl, and web application programming * Experience with MySQL * Strong Communication skills * Collaborative and positive attitude * Expertise in designing and deploying in Unix environments (FreeBSD, Linux) Desired skills: Preferred Requirements * Experience with Bugzilla would be a big plus * CSS and Javascript proficiency is desirable * Exposure to mod_perl and Template Toolkit Contact information at: http://jobs.perl.org/job/4996#contact
