Required skills:
* working jointly with editorial staff for automated newsfeed aggregation
from content providers
* creating/modifying web interfaces and ad-hoc systems for the management
of in-house and world-accessible databases, web content, advertising and
subscriber management
* developing web design templates for allafrica.com content and
collaborative initiatives
* working jointly with sales staff to provide technical correspondance to
clients
* using in-place tools and creating new tools to generate periodic
statistic/reports
* hardware, software and user management/maintenance for linux servers
running apache and samba, as well as linux and windows workstations
* must be multitasking, self-directed and willing to learn new technologies

* HTML/CSS/Javascript, XML, linux utilities and shell scripting, perl,
HTML::Mason (or similar dynamic templating system), SQL


Desired skills:
Cross-browser AJAX with graceful degradation for browsers lacking
javascript is a considerable plus.
