Description:
As a member of our Engineering staff, you will be responsible for
rapid-fire design, implementation, and instrumentation of features that
drive the web's largest news site. You'll be working closely with other
Engineering team members, Product and Operations groups to provide new and
innovative ways to deliver news and information to our growing community of
users.

Responsibilities include:
- Playing an active role in implementing and providing feedback on new
product features and processes 
- Implementing new product features in a complex system using Perl. 
- Becoming actively involved in team and company-wide architecture
discussions 
- Creating high-level technical design documents 


Required skills:
Job Requirements:

We are searching for exceptional, enthusiastic software engineers that have
a strong command of Perl and C; 4+ years of commercial programming
experience that is recently web focused; strong programming skills in Perl,
and knowledgeable with Linux and Apache; great design skills and a practice
of thoroughly testing code before release. The ideal candidate has at least
5 years of programming experience and a strong resume of successfully
launching web products.

This candidate will be experienced with designing and implementing large
scale systems and be well versed in application and network programming.
The ideal candidate will be able to assess current processes to determine
scalability and reliability and make recommendations for improvement.

Education:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent
