Make contributions to new and existing products for an established, highly successful company that is still pre-IPO. This is a high-profile, senior level OO Perl development position where you will be creating web applications for the leading managed service provider in the integrated messaging space. Products range from mail-related hosted systems like gmail and Yahoo! mail to collaborative search and archiving technologies. Work with product management and engineering teams to define the requirements for new products and services. Write design specifications and conduct design review meetings. Develop web applications for Archival, Compliance, Instant Messaging, Admin Console, Business Continuity, and Policy Management. Responsible for fixing bugs reported by QA and customers. Work closely with QA team to define testing requirements and scope. Participate in the Agile daily meetings. Support releases deployment. Reasonable work hours and strong, positive engineering-centered culture. Relaxed but highly professional peers. INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES ONLY - NO THIRD PARTY AGENCIES Required skills: 3+ years of Object Oriented Perl experience 8+ years of professional software engineering experience Experience with web development technologies: HTML/DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Unix Shell, Web server configuration Experience with web application development environments In-depth understanding of software engineering lifecycle process, project management methods and architecture strategy and methods Experience developing applications that rely on relational databases Linux development experience Object Oriented design and programming Familiar with Agile development process Good knowledge of MVC approach Experience with Class::DBI, Template Toolkit and CGI:FormBuilder Desired skills: Knowledge of mail systems and protocols, search technologies and approaches, TCP/IP, Apache, Java Prefer candidates who are local to the Bay Area, San Francisco, Silicon Valley.
