Posted: January 9, 2007 Job title: Systems Engineer IV (ASR) Company name: eScription Location: United States, MA, Needham Pay rate: DOE Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: Statistical NLP, language modeling, machine translation The Automatic Speech Recognition Group is looking for a bright NLP engineer to focus on developing and implementing algorithms and features that enhance capabilities, quality, automation and efficiency of our production system. This individual will work on a variety of research and development projects and will be exposed to many aspects of natural language processing, machine translation and distributed computing. This position requires broad expertise in many aspects of research and development: Analyzing large corpora for statistics and trends. Maintaining and enhancing specific NLP components. Developing new data mining techniques Analyzing user interaction with the product. Explore applicability of machine translation techniques to our application Optimizing our NLP code for efficiency. All of these projects will require careful written specification, incremental development, testing and monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess: A Masters with relevant thesis work or a PhD Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field Hands on experience or academic background on either statistical NLP techniques, Machine Translation, Language modeling or other applied Statistical Modeling techniques. Direct involvement on large corpora investigations a big plus. Extensive experience with Perl and/or shell scripting (bash) Experience with Unix/Linux Knowledge of one or more of the following: C/C++, SQL, Java, CVS/SVM Excellent analytical skills Good oral and written communication skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Desire to learn new technologies, work hard, excel and make a difference Required skills: Extensive experience with perl and/or shell scripting URL for more information: http://www.escription.com/ Contact information at: http://jobs.perl.org/job/5161#contact
