Description:
Got Perl? PBS wants you! 

Join a great team at PBS in our brand new offices in Arlington, VA. We are
looking for a Perl and/or PHP web developer with knowledge of MySQL. 

This position will help support the hosting, technical structure and
interactivity of the PBS Interactive Learning web sites, such as
http://pbskids.org, http://pbskidsgo.org and more. These web sites require
various levels of technical support and interactive application
development. The responsibilities include account administration, web
application programming and troubleshooting, HTML and Flash development
support, and database administration tasks.

Required skills:
WORK EXPERIENCE: 

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Web site development, including PHP
and/or Perl script writing and JavaScript, with a strong focus on working
in a team environment; 
• 1-2 years of experience with Flash, including video and ActionScript a
plus. 
• Experience developing administrative interfaces for Web site maintenance
and automation of content updates. 
• Experience with streaming media preferred. 


TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

• Proficiency in programming and application development in LAMP (Linux,
Apache, MySQL and Perl/PHP/Python), HTML, Flash (including ActionScript),
and JavaScript; 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to
communicate technical issues clearly and accurately to non-technical staff
and external producers; 
• Understanding of general programming fundamentals.

OTHER SPECIAL SKILLS: 

• Fast learner; excited to keep up with new technologies; 
Motivated self-starter, resourceful, creative problem-solver who can meet
deadlines; 
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail; 
• Previous experience developing fun and educational online content for
children preferred.
