Posted: January 30, 2007 Job title: mod_perl/DBI programmer Company name: News Internal ID: ARPD001 Location: United States, NY, New York Pay rate: Open Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Hourly employee Length of employment: 12 months Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: This is a hands-on development position requiring the following: Expert-level proficiency in object-oriented Perl (minimum 5 years experience) Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, with heavy experience in object-oriented JavaScript development Expert-level proficiency developing mod_perl compliant applications, with extensive experience porting CGI applications to mod_perl preferred. Working knowledge with CGI::Application, Catalyst or other MVC Perl development framework Active working knowledge of AJAX Experience with PHP or Python a strong plus At least seven years experience in software development (with at least five years in web application development), with exposure to the full development lifecycle required Solid understanding of Apache 1.3 and 2.0 operations and integration in a Linux/Unix environment Familiarity in basic Linux systems administration, with preference for RedHat Linux Enterprise Server 4 or Fedora Core Development experience with the MySQL platform (v.4.1 and v.5). Exposure to database clustering a plus. Experience working with open source tools and applications, with prior participation and contribution in open source projects a plus. Experience working with Movable Type blogging system a plus. At least 3 years of experience developing and extending content management systems (major plus for in-depth working knowledge of Krang and Movable Type) Expert knowledge of XML, XSLT, SOAP, CSS, DHTML, and XHTML Strong organizational, problem-solving and communications skills (must be able to do basic technical writing) Experience in on-line media operations or advertising highly desirable Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and exhibit grace under pressure Ability to work independently with no hand-holding Required skills: Perl, mod_perl/DBI , Apache Contact information at: http://jobs.perl.org/job/5272#contact
