Location: United States, CA, Mountain View Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Description: API Support Engineer, Technical Operations - Mountain View Multiple positions available in Mountain View, CA. Google has an immediate need for driven team players to join our rapidly growing Developer Support team and work with third-party developers using our various APIs and other developer products such as the Google Web Toolkit. You will be responsible for contributing to our growing developer community; interaction with, and support of, third-party developers; and working closely with Googles product engineering teams. The ideal candidate loves troubleshooting challenging coding issues, participating in developer communities, and has strong web application development. Responsibilities: * Assist third-party developers to troubleshoot their integration with Google APIs and implementation of other Google developer products. * Manage and participate in developer discussion forums and support queues to debug and resolve technical/coding problems. * Contribute to Open Source projects using our APIs. * Write sample code and client libraries that help people get started using our developer products. * Build internal systems and tools to help our team operate more efficiently, while also empowering and enabling the developer community. * Write technical articles on Googles developer site, as well as third-party developer sites. * Be a champion for the needs of the developer community. Required skills: Requirements: * BA/BS in Computer Science or similar, technical degree. * Self-directed, motivated and driven performer. * Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively. * Demonstrated experience solving problems quickly, inventively and resourcefully. * Naturally inquisitive with self-sufficient research skills; excellent attention to detail. * Familiarity with Unix, Linux, Windows and Mac. * Solid knowledge of XML, preferably experience using server-to-server web services (SOAP or REST). * Solid programming abilities in one or more of the following languages: Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET, JavaScript and Perl. * Experience as a committer in an Open Source project is a plus. * Entry-level positions in the team typically require 1-2 years engineering/programming experience. More senior positions are also available. * Some APIs also require strong AJAX web application development experience and knowledge of browser compatibility issues.
