Posted: February 9, 2007 Job title: Release Engineer Company name: Oversee.net Location: United States, Ca, los angeles Pay rate: 70-80K+bonus+stock options Travel: 0-25% Terms of employment: Salaried employee Length of employment: indefinite Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: The Release and Build Manager acts as a senior-level Engineer/Developer and offers expert-level advice on distributed application software version control, source code change, and configuration management topics, tools, processes, implementation strategies, Best Practices, and standards for many distributed applications. The position provides project management and leadership in the development of compiles/builds, version controls, and CM tool support for projects and applications of significant diversity and complexity. Responsibilities: drive the delivery of high-quality reliable and repeatable build and release processes for distributed application development, consistently review SCM (processes, procedures, developer training, and other team materials) to integrate with upcoming technologies, act as a mentor to application development teams (regarding procedures, processes, and tools throughout the application life cycle, from development to deployment), write Shell/Perl scripts to automate and improve build and release tasks, optimize build processes to increase build efficiency. Required skills: * 3 years experience doing professional build and release management of internet software. * Expertise in building and deploying internet software in Unix and Windows environments. * Working knowledge of GNU Make, Ant, Maven, or similar build tools. * Working knowledge of RPM, Dpkg, OpenPKG or SysV packaging tools. * Familiarity with Perl, and PHP environmentss * Experience administering Perforce and CVS source control systems. * Scripting ability in Windows and Unix environments. * BS in CS or equivalent experience.
