Description:
Our Client is a rapidly growing search site, is looking for a Software
Engineer to join its small development team in San Francisco. 

The ideal candidate is a versatile engineering professional with experience
developing key portions of a consumer-focused web site. This developer will
create and enhance web-based applications for consumers, partners, and
employees. We expect candidates to have a thorough understanding of the
technologies they have used, and we place a premium on clean, robust
designs – both in user interfaces and in code – that can be deployed to
real users on time. Experience scaling a site to millions of users is
desirable. 

Job Requirements: 

• Minimum of BSCS degree or similar. 
• 3 or more years of professional experience developing web-based
applications. 
• Strong development skills with Perl, Java, Apache, Linux, and MySQL, or a
proven ability to adapt a design to an unfamiliar technology, is critical. 

• Familiarity with other languages and web technologies, such as Java, is a
plus. 
• Experience defining, estimating, and tracking the progress of technical
tasks for a schedule is very important. 
• Proficiency in writing HTML and CSS by hand with strict adherence to W3C
standards is a plus as is experience with JavaScript and Flash. 
• Familiarity with common sysadmin tools (cron, scp, etc.) and CVS or other
source code control systems for collaborative development would be very
useful. 
• Inability to punch a wooden plank with enough force to snap it in half
can be overlooked in an otherwise ideal candidate.
