I can chime in to say that I would like to someday see the JPL integrate
with perljvm.  What I envision is a JPL system that allows you to generate
either pure native JVM bytecode, or the hybrid it now produces.

Far in the future, I want perljvm to allow to access Perl objects from Java
and Java objects from Perl, which is what JPL currently provides.  

So, I think that a very long term goal should be integration.  Such
integration would probably be premature now, but it is something we should
be considering, I think.

I could provide even daily snapshots pretty trivially, if this would be
useful.  I guess the only reason I haven't done it is that I haven't seen a
request for it yet.  I didn't see the point in doing it unless I knew at
least one person would use it.
