Quoting from the LWPng 0.24 News file:

"Currently LWPng use its own private event loop implementation.  The plan is
to adopt the event loop implementation used by the Tk extension, or more
precisely Perl will hopefully get a standard event loop that both Tk and
LWPng can use. This should allow applications that happily mix the Tk and
LWPng modules."

Even if Event does not end up being the One and True Event Loop, I
will make sure that it is source compatible or arrange for a gradual
migration.  Back in the early days (6 months ago? :-), the Event
programming API was changing at every release.  I was careful to
allow the old API to continue to work, and assist in upgrading by
printing out lots of warnings about the new usage.  So I don't
think that anyone should sit on their hands in anticipating of
the One and True Event Loop.  Just start coding!
