well, i have some confirmation of this bug or whatever. someone else has
the exact same config and the same callback test fails. here is the
config:

Event.pm v0.80

# uname -a
SunOS zzz.zzz.com 5.7 Generic_106541-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10

# gcc -v

so it is not just my setup. jochen, what is your config where you say it
passes the test?

and as i said it also fails on my linux box. somehow it passes
elsewhere. i would call this a real bug with idle events. i know joshua
is away on vacation. anyone remember until when? i recall sometime in
early january.
