Perl and my internal modem on Mac osx

Is it posible to tell perl to print to my internal modem and tel it to 
fax it to a phone number.
If I run in the terminal "lpstat -a" I see my internal modem and my 
laser printer.
I do know how to let perl print on my laser printer but now I also want 
to let perl sent a fax ( if this is posible).
