find all files with specific filetype/creator

Hello.  I'm trying to write a MacPerl script that will find all files 
on a volume that have a particular file type and creator (e.g. "APPL" 
/"8IBM").  Does anyone have some sample code that will get me 
started?  Alternatively, does anyone have an script example that uses 
the PBCatSearch toolbox module?
I appreciate any and all suggestions.  Thanks.
