When you say "external libraries", what do you mean? Do you mean modules? 
Do you mean XS libraries? Or do you mean user libraries designated by a 
'use lib' sort of thing?

For RuntimeBuilder:

  - all modules are sucked into the binary.
  - all XS libraries (well, most anyways) are stuck in
    a folder called "shared libs". the folder hierarchy
    is the same as in the MacPerl folder.
  - all user libs are sucked into the binary.
