to my understanding the computer has to send a request
for a particular filename on the memory card on the
piano. I don't think there is a way to tell the piano
"send file /mysounds/sound1.all as SysEx stream". I
think the computer has to request "cd into /mysounds",
"list me files in here", "give me size of sound1.all",
"tell me the free space on this card", "send me
sound1.all", "delete sound1.all", "format the memory
card".
is there a utility (apart from the Ymaha-supplied
"card transfer utility", which is for windows only)
which would allow me to issue such requests and
receive the responses ? (and files) ?

thanks john
